EHS Specialist/Manager

Blue Ash, OH (Onsite)

Position Overview

The EHS Specialist/Manager reports directly to the Site Plant Manager and is responsible for managing the EHSS&S program and processes. This individual ensures that the facilities comply with federal, state, and local regulations, while also implementing corporate programs related to environmental health, safety, and security. The role involves a hands-on approach, with significant time spent in the manufacturing areas, interacting with plant and supervisory personnel.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and internal safety and health regulations.
  • Implementing and maintaining the corporate EHSS&S program, adapting it to local needs.
  • Leading and maintaining the plant's safety management system and safety training plan.
  • Conducting accident investigations and implementing corrective and preventative actions.
  • Ensuring facility compliance with environmental permits and preparing for routine audits.
  • Supporting process safety management, including PSM program compliance for reactors.
  • Assessing chemical and physical hazards, providing guidance on control measures.
  • Managing the site's industrial hygiene programs, including health risk assessments.
  • Leading plantwide safety teams and advocating for safety-related capital and expense projects.
  • Maintaining records and preparing reports related to environmental and safety programs.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Safety, or a relevant field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in EHSS&S within a chemical processing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, DHS, PSM, and other relevant regulations.
  • Experience in project management and facilitating in-house training programs.
  • Experience conducting accident and incident investigations.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% to support other locations and corporate audits.
  • Familiarity with safety management systems like VPP, OHSAS 1800
  • Awareness of U.S. based security regulations.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.

The salary for this role is $100,000 - $125,000.
