Position Summary

Reporting to
the Director of Business Operations, this position is the primary financial oversight
of the daily Valencia Branch Campus fiscal procession and accounting for
revenues and expenditures to ensure completeness and compliance with the
University policy and practices, state and federal requirements and regulations. Fiscal processing includes initiation and
approval of transactions for budget, payroll, internal and external billing,
effort certification, capital inventory oversight, purchasing approval and
reimbursements.

This position
will perform advanced accounting functions in the form of tracking, analyzing
and reporting information across the spectrum of fiscal operations on the
branch including tuition, mil levy financing, fees, auxiliary revenues, endowed
and non-endowed revenue flows, special appropriations and RPSPs, as well as formula
funding reviews. Expenditure tracking
will include I&G, student aid, internal services, and auxiliary enterprises.

Budget
development and tracking will consist of salary tracking, revenue tracking and
budget adjustments. This position will
be responsible for Higher Education reporting of budgets, reports of actuals,
and all other fiscal reporting to the state. Other duties may
include capital project monitoring, assisting with the development of reports
to the Local Advisory Board for the campus, and direct interaction and/or
oversight of all other fiscal operations on the campus.

Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia County, the
University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of the
University of New Mexico which functions as a community college in the region
and is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution. With an emphasis on teaching
excellence, Valencia Campus offers academic transfer programs, career and
technical programs, Adult Basic Education, and Dual Credit High School/College
courses to Valencia and Socorro Counties. The faculty and staff serve a student
body of over 2,000 students per semester.

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and successful completion of at least 15 credit hours of university-level accounting through intermediate accounting; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in business, public administration, or applicable trade
  • Five or more years experience in higher education accounting
  • Demonstrated experience with point of sales systems
  • Demonstrated experience with capital inventory
  • Five or more years supervisory experience
