Position Overview

The Manufacturing Sciences Intern will assist in the test method transfer of nucleic acid detection methodologies and the implementation of new technologies within the scope of verification and validation studies to support diagnostic product development.

The position is intended to be a full-time internship opportunity, over Summer 2025, for an engineering or science undergraduate to obtain hands-on laboratory experience in an industry leading group while contributing to the overall company goals.

This internship opportunity is based out of our Redwood City, CA office location.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist with basic laboratory experiments.
  • Assist with general laboratory duties.
  • Assist with RNA/DNA extraction methods.
  • Assist with nucleic acid amplification methods.
  • Assist with automation methods.
  • Assist with other support duties as assigned.
  • Effective analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in team situations.
  • Ability to work effectively independently.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong attention-to-detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adhere to project schedules and timelines.

  • Ability to work designated schedule.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to work seated for approximately 50% of a typical working day. Ability to work standing for approximately 50% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to grasp with both hands; pinch with thumb and forefinger; turn with hand/arm; reach above shoulder height.
  • Ability to use various types of laboratory equipment including microscopes, microtomes, blades, strainers, pipettes for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work on a computer and phone simultaneously.
  • Ability to use a telephone through a headset.
  • Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.
  • May be exposed to hazardous materials, tissue specimens and instruments with moving parts, lasers, heating and freezing elements, and high-speed centrifugation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrollment towards Bachelor's degree in field of Life Sciences or related Engineering field.
  • Preference given to candidates with a record of outstanding academic achievement.
  • Basic computer skills to include Internet navigation, Email usage, and word processing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office to include Excel macros and pivot tables and Word mail merge.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.

Salary Range:

$39,000.00 - $62,000.00

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - CA - Redwood City on a full-time basis.
