What We Need:

This Sr. Accounting Analyst position is a key contributor to the financial statement close process and is involved in the daily operations of the Corporate Accounting area within the Controllers Division. This position uses a variety of computer software packages and other system reports to assist in posting journal entries to the general ledger, to reconcile various general ledger accounts, and to report, analyze, and reconcile financial data related to premium and claims for various BCBSMA products and the Federal Employee Program (FEP). The position requires someone with good analytical skills who enjoys the research and reconciliations process, pays attention to detail, and has the ability to work independently while meeting deadlines. In addition to operations functions, this position is responsible for helping document new processes and update existing documentation for changes in current processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare journal entries and reconcile various general ledger accounts, and the Rate Stabilization Reserve, related to FEP Traditional and US Postal Service programs.
  • Keep up on Accounting regulations from the BCBSA FEP Directors Office and the Office of Personnel Management (OPM).
  • Reconcile FEP NASCO Local claims to the FEP NASCO Bank accounts.
  • Identify, research, and correct variances in various system and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Prepare special reporting for the FEP Directors Office related to Payable balances, Working Capital, Investments, Refund Aging, and the Rate Stabilization Reserve (RSR) throughout the year.
  • Participate in multiple audits related to FEP IPA, FEP CPR, and FEP OIG. In addition to regular audits and internal audits.
  • Prepare analysis related to Monthly administrative expenses, yearly budget submissions to BCBSA, quarterly and annual cost submissions, Fiscal Year cost submissions, and FEP Plan Incentive Program Finance Reporting.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Strong PC Skills including strong working knowledge of Excel, Access, and Word.
  • Good verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with other departments to resolve discrepancies and issues related to financial data.

We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs and affordability.

This job is also eligible for variable pay.
