Description
The Department of Economics at Washington College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level starting in August of 2025. Expertise in Behavioral Economics is required, additional expertise in another field such as Health Economics, Urban Economics, Industrial Organization, or History of Economic Thought is desirable. The teaching load is three courses per semester. Willingness to teach in courses contributing to the Business Major is expected. Washington College has a tradition of excellent undergraduate teaching. Qualifications
The candidate should have a Ph.D. or a defense date scheduled by the time of appointment. Successful candidates will be deeply committed to teaching and maintaining an active scholarly agenda that includes student collaborations and community engagement. A typical course load consists of three courses per semester during the academic year (3/3 load). Courses taught will depend on the experience and expertise of the applicant, but will include teaching introduction and upper-level courses in economics, as well as courses contributing to the Business major. Faculty are also expected to mentor senior thesis students, provide academic advising support, and contribute to department and college-wide service.
