DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION Assesses the patient's condition and nursing needs, sets goals, and prescribes appropriate nursing actions to meet those goals and the physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative needs of the patient. Assist management to ensure that all clinic support staff employees meet and maintain the departmental criteria and are aligned with the University of Missouri Health Care Mission and Goals. Communicate with physicians, patients, and other departments to assure satisfaction is at the highest and participate in process improvement groups and complaint resolution. Conduct quality inspections and provide written reports. Educate the clinic support staff about new policies and programs from management. Ensure that each staff follows the organization's policies and procedures, e.g., for sick time, personal leave, overtime, contact with the media or press, confidentiality about organization information, etc. Concurrently, the clinic charge nurse must follow policies and procedures for carrying out supervisory responsibilities, e.g. policies and procedures for hiring, firing, promotions, etc. Monitor staff's workload and productivity in order to meet the standards. Assist management in monitoring department operations and objectives to ensure the quality of services meets with the standard of the University of Missouri Health Care Mission and Goals. Plan, assign, and review the work of the clinical support staff to assure work assignments are completed timely. Must be able to prioritize the workload based on clinic goals and distribute among the staff. Work with each clinic support employee to establish suitable goals, action plans and timelines. Provide ongoing guidance and support to the employee as they complete their action plan. Assist in evaluating and participating in annual performance of all clinical support staff. Prepare written reports and collect data for management as needed. May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Two (2) years of nursing experience.
Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
