Job Summary: Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the Senior Director, Verification & Validation (V&V) will lead all Cubic V&V activities ensuring deliverables meet or exceed stakeholder's requirements. Responsible for establishing and operating a world class Verification & Validation function that delivers quality product to Cubic standards. Responsible for ensuring the test assets of the company are appropriately identified, planned, organized, safeguarded and utilized. Manages all V&V processes and practices across Cubic and will establish the V&V strategy of the company, ensure that test tools, processes and methodologies are best practice and ensure first class test performance and quality. This position typically works under limited supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Defines and implements the verification and validation strategy to support Cubic business plans and strategic growth initiatives as part of the wider global Engineering function.
  • Functions as the worldwide leader of the V&V teams, facilitating the greater use of that resource globally. Centralizes activities where appropriate and improves overall V&V capability/automation.
  • Establishes consistent validation benchmarking & is aware of industry best practice, and ensures Cubic continually improves.
  • Cultivate a high performing V&V organization with a mission on ensuring high quality deliverables.
  • Manages global V&V organization related to work allocation in order to optimize global staff utilization. Establish communication system to disseminate information, best practices and updates.
  • Responsible for resourcing and allocating test staff to support projects, services, R&D, and manufacturing operations.
  • Responsible for ensuring requirements (business and customer) are testable and traceable. Update RVTM as appropriate.
  • Ensure static analysis tools and processes are consistently used globally to identify defects early in the lifecycle.
  • Oversee integration and end-to-end testing globally, ensuring consistency in approach and standards.
  • Coordinate User Acceptance Testing, ensuring findings from all executions are consolidated and incorporated within global organization.
  • Manages global defect data to identify commonalities and trends and provides feedback to other engineering teams.
  • Understands Risk Based testing and its application on a global scale and identifies risks related to V&V activities.
  • Develops the business cases for advancements necessary to update engineering verification practices and keep them current.
  • Leads test advancements in technology, creating best-in-class testing solutions.
  • Works across engineering and greater Cubic organizations to foster a culture of innovation through talent development and change management efforts. Drives workflow improvements and implements/enables streamlined processes to achieve operational efficiencies.
  • Produces monthly reports to management regarding organizational performance, issues and opportunities.
  • Standardize test processes and identifies & proposes improvement ideas with inputs from internal stakeholders and regional teams. Defines the interfaces between test and other operating entities, such as Engineering, Manufacturing, Customer Services, Product Management, and Program Management with the goal of improving efficiency.
  • Ability to adopt standards to accommodate local customs, agencies and regulatory requirements while maintaining global consistency.
  • Leads the drafting and implementation of consistent validation policies and procedures worldwide.
  • Leads the designing of engineering validation solutions as required in the company's new product lines.
  • Responsible for test projects in support of new business diversifications and expansions.
  • Ensures global V&V tool standardization across regions.
  • Incumbent will be responsible for estimating testing scope in bids/contracts and managing to agreed test budgets.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Four-year college degree in Engineering or similar discipline, plus at least twelve years' test management experience in a software test environment.Prior exposure in software design and/or a test qualification is a plus. Test automation and transformation experience across global business environments a big plus. Experience with complex software and hardware-based systems a plus. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Detail oriented and ability to perform ground level work as well as coordinate with teammates from remote locations. Ability to work with various functions in a matrix organization, and strong aptitude in influencing change and driving innovation. Must be able to motivate and lead change through creating a clear vision, gaining stakeholder ownership, showing value, and delivering results. Proven record of building and operating high performance teams, growing existing talent and fostering growth and innovation. Ability to inspire set and drive vision for the test organization. Must be available for domestic and international travel, sometimes for extended periods of time.
