Position: Team Leader I
Location: Elk Grove Village, IL
Wage: $28.39/hr + $2/hr shift differential
Shift: Night shift 5:45pm - 6:15am
12-hour continental shift 3 days one week, 4 days the following, off every other weekend.

The Team Lead position reports directly to the Shipping Supervisor.

What you will be doing:

  • Attend required management team meetings.
  • Assist with shift personnel absence as needed.
  • Regular, consistent attendance and punctuality are essential to the job along with adaptability & flexibility when needed.
  • Report all incidents, unsafe acts and conditions to a member of management immediately.
  • Participate in Sonoco's Performance System (SPS) activities as required - 5Star, Pillar Teams, Audits, Near Misses, etc.
  • Work on a Loss Project for SPS.
  • Ensures proper levels of stock are always maintained.
  • Moving material throughout the plant, following routing delivery tickets or orders.
  • Fill orders from storage areas and warehouse stock and deliver to designated departments and machines.
  • Operate power lift truck to move materials and stack pallets
  • Operate walking crane or hoist in unloading and storing materials, as required
  • Unload, move and store a variety of materials, parts or products.
  • Forklift operation.
  • Regular, consistent attendance and punctuality are essential to the job.
  • Report all safety violations to management.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.
  • Follow up & tracking Material movement using Scanner system under EFI procedures
  • Always follow FIFO procedures
  • Obey all safety traffic signs & procedures (HALO)
  • Forklift check list may be followed & report any issues
  • Communication shift change meeting in a daily basics
  • Must follow safely all truck loads & unloads procedures
  • Must talk about safety topics every day
  • LPA must do and participate doing Audits
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Regular, consistent attendance and punctuality are required and expected for job performance.

We'd love to hear from you if:

  • You have 3+ years of lead or supervisory experience
  • Had previous training responsibilities
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, be detail oriented and have experience using a computer
  • Hands-on Capabilities
  • Able to speak, read and write English proficiently
  • Have previous forklift experience and able to get certification
  • Must be able to perform moderate to heavy physical duties/work activities.
  • Must be able to push and pull up to 70lbs.
  • Must be able to stand/or walk/or bend for job related activities over 12 hours.
  • Must have high school diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
