Plant Superintendent

With direction from the plant manager, the position is accountable for safety, quality, productivity, material handling,costperformance, employee relations in a high-performance work team environmental relations, capital improvements, and budget preparation.

Job demands monitoring production performance and implementing processes and procedures to improve results across all key functional areas.Position is responsible for implementing and maintaining best manufacturing practices and regulatory compliance for all production activities.Position is also responsible for partnering with maintenance to support preventive maintenance, equipment repair, and strong maintenance performance and systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of all employees; lead a comprehensive safety program to prevent injuries and create a strong safety culture.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations (EPA, OSHA, etc.).
  • Support quality initiatives to ensure product meets or exceeds customer expectations.
  • Ensure employees complete required quality checks and audits.
  • Meet or exceed plant productivity, cost, or other performance metric expectations.
  • Coordinate production scheduling to meet customer demands, to manage overtime, to minimize inventory, and to reduce costs.
  • Conduct RCCA's to prevent repeat failures and maximize uptime.
  • Facilitate mill ERP system, such as Optivision or Oracle.
  • Manage chemical inventories and ordering, conducting chemical application trials, VOC tracking for environmental, non-contact outfall monitoring and testing.
  • Oversee machine clothing purchases, including installation or removal as needed.
  • Identify, propose, and implement capital projects to improve operational performance.
  • Support maintenance team by ensuring preventive maintenance program is implemented and maintained.
  • Coordinate and help schedule plant equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Hire, train, direct and mentor staff and all plant employees with diverse language, cultural and educational backgrounds.
  • Lead mill and servs as a team leader in supporting and leading continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Trains and understands how to lead and implement continuous improvement process such as 5S with safety, 6 Sigma, Kaizen events, and lean manufacturing.
  • Mentor others in continuous improvement Build and maintain productive employee relationships, driving high employee morale and satisfaction.
  • Provide direction, training, and development as needed.
  • Provide coaching, counseling, or discipline as needed.
  • Recommend disciplinary action to plant manager and review disciplinary action by supervisors for effectiveness and consistency.
  • Work with HR to address employee concerns and issues.
  • Support plant union negotiations, as applicable.

Education and Skills:

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience will be considered)

4 Year Degreein Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or Paper Science preferred

Required Experience:

5-7 years of experience

Compensation:

  • The annual base salary range for this role is from $129,120 to $145,260, plus monthly target bonus of 12.5% of base salary.
