Position Description

The Department of Human Development of Family Sciences in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month Lecturer position to begin January 1, 2025.

About the College

About the Department/School/Area

The Department of Human Development and Family Sciences is an interdisciplinary research department with strong graduate and undergraduate programs focused on human development across the life course, close relationships, and family dynamics. The department studies and interrogates systematic inequities which impact individuals, relationships, families, and communities. We offer a wide range of courses in the areas of early childhood education, human development across the lifespan, interpersonal relationships, and family sciences. Graduates of the department become qualified to pursue a variety of careers in healthcare, social services, education, public policy, public health programs, non-profit agencies, counseling parent and family life education, and/or pursue graduate studies.

Major/Essential Functions

At Texas Tech University, the Lecturer title designates a full-time, non-tenure-acquiring role with primary duties in teaching organized classes and/or instructional labs. In line with TTU's strategic priorities to engage and empower a diverse student body, applicants should have experience working with diverse student populations at the undergraduate level.

Faculty Qualifications


  1. Applicants are required to have earned a Ph.D. by the start date in human development and family sciences or a related discipline such as marriage and family therapy, psychology, sociology, or education;
  2. At least three years of experience teaching online and in-person as the instructor of record for a variety of classes in Human Development and Family Sciences;
  3. Demonstrated track record of successful teaching as evidenced by student teaching evaluations, professional development, peer evaluations, and annual assessments.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching classes focused on gender development, human sexuality, family relationships and dynamics, and aging.
