Position Summary:

This position is responsible for microbiological testing for the release of sterilization loads, for the periodical environmental monitoring of clean room areas and sterile barrier packing process of the devices. Successful candidate will work under general supervision to prepare all the microbiological media needed for in-house testing and as needed, to perform microbiological tests, environmental monitoring and packaging process tests which require standard procedures and instrumentation.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Product and component sterility testing

  • Performing mandatory activities to manufacture and release sterile products

  • Reads and interprets microbiological cultures and other related tests including but not limited to environmental monitoring, sterility tests, growth promotion, microbial limits tests and antimicrobial effectiveness tests.

  • Reviews and approves environmental monitoring data

  • Initiate equipment evaluation to address the equipment repair and appropriate return to service

  • Routine environmental monitoring activities (e.g., microbial counts, particulate monitoring, pyrogen testing, bioburden testing)

  • Management of sterilization and lab materials

  • Performs technical review of batch filling records to ensure quality of aseptic processes

  • Assists in validation, re-validation, and technology transfer activities

  • Ensures that the established processes are maintained and followed

  • Address sterilization load failures in a timely manner and initiated suitable investigation, correction and/or corrective actions as needed

  • Ensure cleanliness of the laboratory.

  • Responsible for the sterile packaging process of the devices

  • Provide guidance to the operators and support the day to day activities for the packaging process

  • Responsible for investigation, corrective actions and disposition of the non-conforming products

  • Roughly 50% of time will be allocated to laboratory duties.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Working Knowledge of Aseptic technique

  • Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

  • Familiarity with GMP/GDP requirements is a plus

  • Good organizational skills

  • Good verbal communication skills

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology or related with completed coursework in Microbiology preferred. With preferred degree, no experience required.

  • Minimum 1 year of experience with sterilization process experience or experience in a clinical or medical research laboratory.

Compensation:

  • The target salary range for this position is $55,000 - $65,000 annually.
