Job Summary:

The Melo-Cardenas Lab is new research laboratory seeking a Senior Research Technologist with a bachelor's degree or master's degree in biology or other relevant scientific area. The candidate will work with genetically engineered mouse models, human samples, and cutting-edge technology to uncover how inflammation drives myeloid blood cancers. The candidate will conduct complex experimental research in a research lab, functioning as a specialist or technical expert, manage one or more phase(s) of a major project(s) or all activities of a small project, and ensure overall lab compliance with all associated rules and regulations.

Specific Responsibilities:

This role offers the opportunity to provide essential research support. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Order and maintain inventory of chemical reagents, lab supplies/equipment and maintain regulatory compliance
  • Manage mouse colonies including ordering, inventory, breeding and genotyping
  • Perform mouse blood collection, IP injection, IV injection, oral gavage, mouse dissection and tissue collection.
  • Perform basic molecular biology techniques, including PCR, western blot, plasmid preparation, flow cytometry and cell sorting
  • Perform cell culture, cell isolation and virus production
  • Train and direct other lab members in research techniques and procedures.
  • Independently design, plan, conduct and troubleshoot experiments following overall research objectives
  • Optimize protocols and coordinate conduct of multiple complex experiments.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational skills and operational excellence
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the laboratory

Minimum Qualifications:

  • College or master's graduates with three or more years of laboratory experience. A solid working knowledge of molecular & cell biology techniques listed above and experience working with mice is required.

Target hiring range for this position will be between $27.06-$33.05 per hour. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
