The Process Equipment & System Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager and is responsible for daily oversight of process operations including product quality, equipment performance, technical troubleshooting, and communication of production related information. Additionally, the Engineer will assess, propose, and complete improvement projects consistent with departmental goals and the Annual Operating Plan.
Key Elements:
- Solve problems and make decisions daily that impact the manufacture of product.
- Monitor production so that delivery and quality requirements are met. Issue change notification for new product implementation, initiate change control, and execute the production schedule.
- Provide technical engineering direction and guidance to plant employees.
- Interact positively with plant personnel in support of manufacturing.
- Develop and implement process improvements and cost saving programs per plant and departmental goals.
- Complete special projects, including product developmental efforts.
- Coach, counsel and reinforce employee behavioral modifications in the areas of safety, environmental management and personal performance.
- Deliver technical training to production team members.
- Write and/or maintain operating procedures and shop standards as required.
- Interact with the SAP Business System, and Process Information Management System to monitor process variables, manufacturing costs, management of inventories, and tracking of maintenance work. Identify and approve calibration efforts where appropriate.
- Assumes responsibility of being a Food Safety and HACCP team member.
- Comprehend and comply with all environmental, health, and safety policies. Suggest improvement to current conditions and communicate concerns regarding risks and hazards.
- Understand and apply Good Manufacturing Practices to departmental operations. Familiarize self with CFR 110 and BRC requirements for food ingredient manufacturing, and ISO 14001 for environmental requirements.
- Occasional night and weekend emergency availability may be required.
- Perform analysis and write reports supporting the manufacturing process as required.
- Some overnight travel will be required for attending business meetings and other purposes.
- Must have a working telephone with voicemail so you can be contacted about schedule changes.
- Ensures compliance of internal safety standards for all processes, including high hazard processes.
- Assumes responsibility of being a PSM Leader and Element Leader.
Qualifications:
- Incumbent should have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferably Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering and interest in plant operations. Pursuit of a Professional Engineer's license is encouraged. Experience in plant design, construction, automation or maintenance of process equipment is desired.
- Knowledge of Federal, State and Local codes and regulations pertaining to equipment and facility design and maintenance is desired.
