Position description

Computational Biology Adjunct Faculty Position

The Benioff Center for Microbiome Medicine (BCMM) is seeking a talented computational biologist focused on human microbiome research to join our vibrant and growing research community at the University of California San Francisco. Candidates are expected to hold a PhD and/or MD and have demonstrated research accomplishment and potential. They should also have a record of mentorship - particularly of trainees and/or staff from groups that are typically underrepresented in biomedical science.

Candidates should have demonstrated expertise in analytical approaches for human microbiome research, including the application of integrative analytical tools for multi-modal data integration. In addition to developing their own research program, the candidate will establish and direct a Microbiome Computational Biology hub within the Benioff Center for Microbiome Medicine. As the Director of the Microbiome Computational Biology hub, the candidate will lead a team that collaborates with investigators across campus to analyze, integrate, and interpret microbiome datasets and develop new bioinformatic tools to serve the microbiome research community.

The selected candidate will be appointed as an assistant adjunct faculty. As an adjunct appointment, the position does not include start-up funding. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $127,000-$164,700. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.

For positions that are 50% effort or less:

See Table 2 for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $90,700-$117,600.
