Position Summary

The future talent Program at Exact Sciences offers internships lasting 12 weeks, including one or more projects within the health economics and outcomes research department. These internships present excellent opportunities for your personal and professional growth, allowing you to assess whether our company aligns with your long-term aspirations. As an Exact HEOR intern, you'll work closely with and learn from some of the most brilliant individuals in the industry. By the conclusion of your internship, you will have gained a comprehensive understanding of how HEOR contributes to the value-based healthcare landscape.

The student intern will assist to the Health Economic and Outcomes Research economic modelling team at Medical Affairs. The intern provides strategic development and use of in-house mathematical and economic models to enhance understanding of colorectal cancer to quantify, and to communicate the value of Exact Sciences' flagship in-market product, Cologuard, to patients, providers, payers, and policy makers. In particular, the intern will be involved in developing and disseminating economic evidence using a microsimulation model that has been developed in Python, assisting with the health outcomes, cost-effectiveness, and real-world evidence studies.

This position is remote.

Minimum education required:

PhD student in quantitatively oriented disciplines such as HEOR, mathematical epidemiology, applied mathematics, Industrial Engineering, or operations research.

Experience and skills required:
Include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop and run simulation models and conduct cost-effectiveness analysis in script language (e.g., python).
  • Ability to develop and complete innovative projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Influence product teams through presentation of simulated economic outcomes.
  • Willing and able to learn new technologies on the job.
  • Apply strong communication skills, including verbal, writing, and presentation.
  • Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.
  • Support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Ability to communicate complex analytical results to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge with python (e.g., using cloud computing (e.g., AWS, Databricks), git, statistical methodologies and tools, mathematical optimization, simulation, and time-series analysis.
  • Working experience of cost-effectiveness analysis.
  • Working knowledge of statistics and modeling techniques.
  • Strong record of research publications in peer-reviewed journals

Salary Range:

$34,000.00 - $54,000.00

The annual base salary shown is a national range for this position on a full-time basis, and may differ based on the hiring location.
