Overview

The Isleta location of PRESNow is seeking an LPN.

Provide direct patient care in the acute care setting of the emergency department or inpatient area utilizing various nursing skills and established standards of care at the direction of a registered nurse.

Qualifications

*High School Diploma or GED
*Practical Nursing Formal Education approved by the NM Board of Nursing
*Licensed Practical Nurse-NM
*BLS required
*PDS IV Certification course (within orientation period)
*Basic Cardiac Arrythmias (BCA) for areas where cardiac telemetry monitoring is used (prior to ACLS)
*ACLS (within 6 months of being hired) for areas where required

* Current BLS required.



Responsibilities

* Adheres to the LPN scope of practice by contributing to the assessment of the health status of individuals, families and communities.

*Deliver direct patient care, including administering treatments as prescribed, assist nurses and physicians with various procedures and documenting individual patient needs, actions taken and patient responses.

*Administer prescribed medications, including medications given through established parenteral/intravenous infusions as prescribed by physician or standard protocols and document according to policy.

*Document and report patient condition, care delivery and post procedure follow up. Assess changes in patient s condition and report to nurse and physician as needed.

* Incorporates nursing activities that create a compassionate, supportive and therapeutic environment for patients and staff with the aim of promoting comfort and healing

*Applies Exceptional Patient Experience principles and incorporates into care interactions

*Applies respect and timely response in interactions with patient, family, health care team members

*Maintaining efficient patient flow and assisting with treatments and procedures.

*Ensures safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and patient-centered care of patients

*Provides education for patients, significant others, and family using identified educational materials and resources under the direction of the nurse and medical provider

*Supports process/quality improvement initiatives and incorporation into practice

*Incorporates all patient safety technology, tools, protocols, communications, and initiatives to optimize a safe patient environment

*Deploy in the clinical environment processes to enhance care efficiency, cost containment

Follow hospital policies and procedures and standards of care.

*Maintain current certifications for appropriate specialty.

*Keep current with developments in the field through seminars, workshops and publications.

*Participate in patient and family teaching.

*Use the Medical Records Computer Systems at the skill levels commensurate with responsibilities.

*Incorporates PHS mission in care-giving activities.

*Maintains positive communication and relationships with patients, peers and other healthcare team members.

*Maintains a punctual and reliable attendance record.

*Uses available resources within system to enhance own continuous learning

*Completes mandatory in-services, competencies and licensure requirements on time.

*Adheres to safety and equipment policies.

*Maintains patient confidentiality/personal/medical information

*Performs other functions as required.
