JOB SUMMARY:

BioCryst is looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and organized individual with a strong technical accounting and SEC reporting background. Reporting to the Associate Director, Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting, this position will play a critical role in preparing the Company's external filings with the SEC, including our quarterly and annual filings on Form 10-Q and Form-10K, respectively; drafting technical accounting memos; accounting for stock-based compensation, including preparation of the related internal controls; monthly close activities, such as recording journal entries and preparing account reconciliations; and other ad hoc responsibilities. This position is fully remote. #LI-REMOTE

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Assist in the preparation of the Company's external financial reports to ensure accurate and timely filing of the Company's SEC reporting requirements, including:

    • Preparation of SEC reporting documents, including Forms 10-Q and 10-K, as well as the financial portions of the earnings releases and proxy statements.
    • Preparation of supporting documentation.
    • Preparation of internal controls within the financial reporting process.
    • Review of XBRL tagging.
    • Preparation of U.S. GAAP disclosure checklists.


  • Assist in the preparation of the Company's equity accounting, including stock-based compensation expense, exercise activity, and related controls and disclosures.
  • Research, evaluate and document accounting positions in accordance with US GAAP and prepare appropriate internal documentation of technical accounting conclusions.
  • Support the annual audit and quarterly review activities with external auditors.
  • Lead monthly close processes, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations for technical accounting areas.
  • Ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned.



EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience; public accounting experience is required, having reached the manager level.
  • Strong technical accounting background with a thorough knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and SEC reporting standards, as well as experience with technical research.
  • Experience with preparation or review of SEC filings.
  • Experience with preparation or review of stock-based compensation accounting.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact and build relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
  • Expert operational knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Experience with Oracle and Workiva preferred.
  • Ability to take ownership and drive projects/issues to completion
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple functional units and levels within the organization.
  • Strong work ethic and organizational skills enabling simultaneous management of multiple deliverables within agreed upon time frames.
  • Maintain confidentiality over all finance and accounting matters and information.
