Working in the Pathfinding R&D department, the Thermal/Mechanical Engineer will develop solutions to upcoming challenges on customers' roadmaps. In addition, the Thermal Mechanical engineer will find ways to enhance existing technology and become an expert consultant for the Applications Engineering team as needed to help ensure the right solutions are applied to applications.

Where You Will Work

Our newly built 200,000 sf facility in Chandler, Arizona is just one example of how Advantest is leading the way in precision manufacturing by investing in our ability to deliver real-time decision making through connected networks of data to help improve manufacturing processes and productivity. Our parts boast standard tolerances of +-.0004", setting new benchmarks in the field. We have spared no expense for our new CNC Machining Facility in Chandler by equipping it with Hermle RS2 Robot Cells that use 6-axis Kuka Robot feeding pairs of Hermle C22U 5-axis Machining Centers and 72 Hermle 5-axis CNCs with advanced automation technologies that uses Swiss fixturing and Robotics from Erowa. Leading the Operations for $100M business.

What You Will be Responsible For



  • Determine technology requirements and development strategy.
  • Customer main point of contact on occasion.
  • Project ownership and management.
  • Drive design completion, provide design inputs and work with Design team or Pathfinding Design Engineers to achieve objectives.
  • Create Test plan, procure collaterals needed.
  • Test execution (or lead the lab team resources to complete tests when feasible).
  • Create documentation (design rules, important considerations to ensure design success, FMEA, etc).
  • Top-level tolerance analysis, especially any customer-facing analyses.
  • Effective handoff to Applications, Design, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance teams to enable future project success.
  • Act as an expert consultant for thermal and mechanical questions.
