Inova Heart and Vascular is seeking a Retail Pharmacy Technician 1 to join the team.

The Retail Pharmacy Technician 1 receives and fills prescription requests for patients that come from physicians, nurses or directly from the patients. Greets customers and takes prescription requests. Fills prescriptions, assists with counting pills or measuring liquids, and labels prescription bottles. Enters customer information into PEA systems, prints labels and includes appropriate prescription information to ensure customers understand the dosage, side effects and potential hazards of prescriptions. Answers phones, receives payment from customers and maintains inventory.

This is a full-time 32-hrs variable shift position. Monday -Friday every other weekend. MUST BE FLEXIBLE to work 8-hour shifts during retail office hours scheduled between 8AM - 8PM.

Job Responsibilities:



  • Assists the Pharmacist in reviewing, processing, preparing, filling, labeling and dispensing medications and supplies.
  • Cleans equipment and maintains all required temperature logs according to system policies and procedures.
  • Checks medication and administration supply inventory for out-of-date products, removes products from inventory and works with the appropriate resource to record out of date products in the Expiring Medication log book.
  • Performs computer entry of prescription information including, but not limited to, patient/prescriber search, drug selection, prescription interpretation/entry, insurance billing and basic problem resolution.
  • Prepares medications for clients through mixing medications, counting pills, and labeling bottles.


Qualifications:

Experience:



  • One (1) year experience working as a retail Pharmacy Technician preferred.


Education:



  • High School or GED.


Certifications:



  • Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of Virginia or Pharmacy Intern License.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months of hire.
