Position Overview


Position Summary
The position is responsible for standard general and detailed cleaning and disinfection in academic, administrative, and performance buildings on campus. This position also completes additional special projects such as (but not limited to) upholstery cleaning, equipment and supply moves, special restroom cleaning tasks, and floor care as assigned by supervision.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The purpose of this organizational unit is to provide basic and detailed housekeeping services to all University buildings.

Minimum Experience/Education
Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Special certification may be required for some of these positions
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Experience with institutional cleaning in an educational setting, preferably higher education. Familiarity with a variety of cleaning equipment, including, but not limited to; vacuums, burnishers, scrubbers, extractors and wet vacs. Demonstrated flexibility in regard to adjustments in job tasks and assignments.

Includes, but not limited to, daily routine/detail cleaning and resupply of assigned work areas in a timely manner. Performs basic cleaning such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, disinfecting, vacuuming, removing trash, etc. Fills dispensers, such as tissue and soap dispensers with the proper product and appropriate amounts. Clean restrooms (to include sweeping and mopping floors, commodes and urinals, sinks, mirrors and dispensers. Detail cleaning of assigned area, high and low dusting, glass/lobbies.

Makes sure equipment is working properly and report malfunctions of equipment as it occurs.
