Job Overview:

The Pre-Admissions Coordinator performs a variety of administrative functions for the Director of Pre-admissions and Referral Liaisons. He/she will serve as an administrative support to streamline communication and information between external stakeholders Ex. Physicians, Nurses, Case Managers, Social Workers, etc. and internal CSH team members including, but not limited to, Pre-Admissions, IVA, Medical, Clinical, Nursing and Patient Care Coordination team members. He/she will be responsible for receiving, processing and relaying communications Ex. via phone, email, fax, etc. and coordinating/carrying out appropriate next steps and actions per direction of the managing supervisor. May also coordinate schedules and special projects if needed.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Strong accuracy and speed in typing and excellence in spelling, grammar, punctuation rules and verbal and written English communication skills
  • Experience with various computer systems and programs
  • Must be computer savvy, extremely organized, excellent interpersonal communication skills and able prioritize effectively
  • Good organizational skills and ability to work independently
  • Tact and courtesy in dealing with others is required
  • Must always maintain confidential information

Preferred:

  • Associate s Degree
  • Experience in hospital/medical registration, medical office administration, medical hospitality and experience working with medical insurance professionals and insurance carrier members
  • Experience working with insurance companies
  • Working knowledge of related medical terminology

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Full Time
  • 40 hours/week

Essential Functions:

  • Answers telephone, screen calls, take mesages, faxes and provide information according to established policies for Director of Pre-admissions and liaisons
  • Respond to calls from staff, patients, families and public
  • Deal discreetly with sensitive, confidential information
  • Answer routine inquires
  • Order and maintain office supplies and equipment
  • Compile identified medical information packet to send to insurance verification department in order to request authorization
  • Interact with internal and external multidisciplinary teams
  • Regularly receive, document, process and accurately relay information to appropriate parties
  • Process, coordinate and deliver submission packets for insurance authorization purposes
  • Pre-register and document new inpatient referrals
  • Assist in coordinating CSH facility tours for families, stakeholders, community members and referral sources with internal CSH team members including the Community Liaisons
  • Gain full knowledge of all CSH programs and services and will be able to assist and guide referral sources and community members to appropriate resources and contacts as needed
  • Assist with any and all aspects of pre-admission readiness as directed by the supervising manager
  • Serve as an administrative support to streamline communication and information between external stakeholders Ex. Physicians, Nurses, Case Managers, Social Workers, etc. and internal CSH team members including Pre-Admissions, IV&A, Medical, Clinical, Nursing and Patient Care Coordination team members
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned
