What you'll be doing...

You will be responsible for managing projects within the Military and Department of Defense (DoD), interfacing at multiple levels to help to drive project & program requirements, issue resolution and service improvements. You'll bring together cross-functional teams across geographic regions to work together to implement service effectively and on time. Anticipated daily activities include: creation of agendas for internal and external meetings, lead internal and external status meetings, capture and distribute meeting minutes, assign action items to appropriate stakeholders, facilitate technical discussions as need, create and manage project plans, manage resource availability. As required the Project Manager will be required to provide written status to the Program Manager and executive leadership both internal and external to Verizon.

  • Monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across several technologies and implementing action plans when needed.

  • Supporting high visibility strategic project & service implementation

  • Interfacing directly with Federal customers & management

  • Forging cross-functional partnerships to get to the work done.

  • Crafting detailed project plans and presenting business updates.

  • Providing ongoing status and action reporting

  • Identifying global resource requirements and pulling in the right people.

  • Planning, anticipating issues, and adjusting to meet objectives.

  • Developing, reviewing, and continuously improving processes.

  • Driving the project and keeping team members on track.
  • Helping to drive service excellence for the customer
What we're looking for...

You are a highly effective communicator and listen with both your eyes and ears. You have experience dealing professionally with key customers at frontline & management levels. You value diverse perspectives and seek out different points of view when trying to solve a complex problem. You are effective at managing external partners to get things done. You're not afraid to speak your mind and know it's better to call attention to something before it gets out of hand. You have a sense of urgency and deliver on-time, on-budget results. You keep the big picture in focus as you handle the details on the way to the finish line. You have experience in driving complex telecommunications implementation projects successfully. despite challenges & changes. You like working in a dynamic environment and recognize that it comes with lots of ambiguity. You are happiest when all the i's are dotted and t's are crossed and enjoy the challenge of bringing order to chaos.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of direct work experience.
  • Working knowledge of local telecommunications networks

  • Managed complex projects involving multiple work streams and stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated Vendor management experience

  • Strong demonstrated communications skills

  • Experience in dealing with key customers at both front line & management levels

  • Working ability with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Powerpoint, etc)

  • Motivated and influenced teams to deliver outcomes and results.

  • The ability to get a government Public Trust clearance at a minimum

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree in Project Management.
  • Three or more years of Project/Program Management experience within Telecom industry.
  • Three or more years of experience creating, monitoring, and implementing business process.
  • Two or more years of experience managing large projects.

  • One or more years of experience in direct customer and vendor management.

  • CAPM or PMP Certification: current or willingness to obtain within 6 months of start date.

  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) v3.

  • Knowledge of Verizon's Ordering Systems and Architecture, specifically as they relate to the Federal Government accounts.

  • Experience Verizon's transport and how they relate to products and services offered to the customer.

  • Documentation, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbal at all levels within an organization.

  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to analyze and document complex business processes and independently identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Ability to efficiently prioritize and organize competing work demands with little oversight.

  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and make effective decisions.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently, within a team and between teams.

  • Demonstrated capabilities for creativity and innovation.
