THE ROLE

Under close supervision, keeps facility litter free and performs various loadchecker duties, and assists with other projects as needed.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, AND ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

General Laborer (majority of position performs General Laborer duties)



  • Picks up blown litter on site and adjoining roads.
  • Brings full litter garbage bags to pick-up truck or tipping table.
  • Picks up metal or other recyclable materials from tipping table.
  • Relieves Spotter during lunch break and other times as needed.
  • Repairs drainage flumes.
  • Moves and/or constructs wind fences.
  • Keeps property clean and litter free.
  • Assists with covering garbage with tarps.
  • If working at compost site, removes contaminants from organics.


Load Inspector/Checker (small percentage of time may be spent on the following duties):



  • Inspects and records daily incoming loads.
  • Keeps hazardous and otherwise prohibited waste out of facility. Generates documentation of efforts made to keep hazardous and otherwise prohibited waste out of facility.
  • Deals with customers in a professional manner. Responds to customers politely, courteously or firmly, as the situation dictates.
  • Answers customer questions.
  • Takes the appropriate action in accordance with amount and types of materials found, and customer attitude. Asks appropriate personnel for assistance when needed.
  • Works in a respectful manner with fellow employees.
  • Keeps accurate daily records.


QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:



  • Principles and practices of job site safety, potential job hazards, and state and local regulations.
  • Work under pressure, handle stressful situations and maintain flexibility.
  • Ability to maintain high levels of activity or productivity; operating with effectiveness, and determination over extended periods of time.
  • Ability to understand safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Consistently build knowledge and expertise about current job.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers, supervisors and customers.
  • Ability to communicate on a two-way radio or similar device.
  • Basic Computer programs.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
