Overview

Abacus Technology is seeking a Sr. Network Engineer to provide infrastructure support for the Technical Advisory and Assistance Services (TAAS) program at Hanscom AFB. This is a full-time position.



Responsibilities

    Define network-related concepts, capabilities, architectures, and system requirements to include interoperability, interfaces, COMSEC, and TRANSEC.
  • Analyze network system trade space, identify, and propose optimal solutions to meet cost, schedule, performance, security, and resiliency requirements.
  • Develop and document communications protocols to maintain interoperability between NC2 elements while supporting a flexible CONEMPS, allowing for rapid, responsive evolution of the weapon system capability.
  • Advise staff Engineers, Integrated Product Team (IPT) members, Program Managers (PMs), and joint combined test team customers on performance, schedule, and cost considerations and issues with respect to the design, development, integration, test, and deployment of new communications capabilities.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations to incorporate communications systems and Modular Open System Architectures (e.g. Open Mission Systems) on host platforms with an NC3 mission to enable NC3 modernization. Analysis considerations should include SWAP-C, HW/SW processing environments, and technology limitations.
  • Define requirements and guide program development, modification, integration, validation, testing, and redesign.
  • Perform special studies and investigations associated with development and sustainment support activities for all assigned systems, to include performance analyses, modeling and simulation, hardware/software investigations and reliability or maintainability studies.
  • Determine logical solutions to major problems and recommend changes to system architecture and/or hardware and software designs to resolve identified problems.
  • Determine compatibility and interoperability issues for assigned systems and other related integrated systems and notify appropriate managerial, engineering, and operational organizations of possible impacts to system mission effectiveness.
  • Review systems documentation including plans, specifications, design data, procedures, and other associated documents in support of assigned systems and for systems that interface with assigned systems.
  • Develop comprehensive technical documentation for engineering forecasts, status reporting, and detailed planning of projects.


Qualifications

10+ years experience in network administration or engineering. Bachelor's degree in a related field. Experience in all phases of the engineering lifecycle including: requirements; architecture; design; implementation; testing; and operations and maintenance. Thorough knowledge of routers, switches, and firewalls. Must have an understanding of network and software defined network technology, to include OSI Layers 1-7, defensive cyber operations, and system security. Able to assess infrastructure, identify areas for improvement, and recommend solutions. Able to provide technical guidance and direction to system administrators and help desk technicians. Knowledge of relevant server-side tools and technologies. Experience with network monitoring and management using an automated solution. Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining servers and desktops in an enterprise organization. Extensive experience with security as it pertains to network architecture, desktops, laptops, servers, firewalls, routers, and intrusion detection systems (IDS). Solid customer service and communication skills are critical as well as the ability and willingness to communicate effectively and appropriately in an empathetic and understanding manner. Must be a US Citizen and hold a current Top Secret clearance.
