Description
A Brief Overview Provides safe efficient age specific nursing care for inmates at the Portage County Correctional Facilities using the nursing process in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status. Dimensions are: High level of autonomy in clinical skills, critical thinking, and decision making with minimal supervision. Functions in accordance with the professional standards of the Ohio board of nursing. Completes/submits required documentation accurately and in real time. Evaluates all new inmates for a complete history and physical, including PPD test. Respond to all medical incidents within the jail. Completes medication administration to inmates within the jail according to best practice model. Delivers effective relationship based nursing care. Demonstrates technical skills in care delivery that result in safe practice and positive care outcomes. Demonstrates nursing care delivery that is in compliance with all state, federal and local regulations. Demonstrates clear communication and effective collaboration to optimize patient care and clinical operations. Maintains professional accountability and boundaries. Adheres to organizational policy and procedure. Adheres to Service Excellence Standards of Behavior. Refers to mental health services as needed. The nursing staff evaluates all new inmates, cares for chronic and acute medical needs for all inmates incarcerated, responds to all incidents (chest pain, falls, injuries), passes meds for all inmates multiple times per day and works with the medical director daily. The nursing staff works with inmates that are at risk for bodily harm, pervasive attempts to subvert the typical medical process, exposure to illicit drugs, the position of being confined into certain rooms, etc. This field of work includes compliance with care delivery of inmates according to the federally mandated treatment for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) and Alcohol Use Disorder. |
