This Production Engineer will be located at our Polypropylene Catalyst operation center in Louisville, KY. In this exciting and challenging position, you will manage the performance of production lines and serve as the primary technical support for process/production topics. As a Production Engineer you will also ensure that operations are performed according to standards and lead improvement efforts in all areas including product quality, economy, safety, industrial hygiene, and environmental protection.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with local legal regulations/legislation and Clariant policies
- You will Initiate or approve process/product modifications following MOC process
- Participate or lead risk analysis; support and implement corresponding action items
- Responsible for leading improvement projects to improve ESHA related topics on certain production lines
- Decide and develop processes and procedures to increase First Pass Quality (FPQ) of production, take critical to quality decisions on production process subjects to some abnormality
- Lead/participate in groups to follow up nonconformities from clients (QNS)
- You will use Clariant Excellence tools to generate/track proper KPIs to improve overall quality
- Manage certain process lines of the plant taking the necessary decisions in a daily basis
- Decide on modifications, projects, trials for certain areas of the plant (including investment projects)
- Develop documentation to run process and train people accordingly, develop all production processes have proper level of documentation and operational procedures
- Responsible for leading improvement groups to enhance performance of plant areas
- Ensure that operators know the procedures and use in a daily basis. Enforce operational discipline
- You will serve as ambassador of management systems at plant level (e.g. ISO standards)
- Lead, champion and support continuous improvement initiatives and activities to improve processes
- You will participate in Green or Black Belt training and empower Yellow Belts
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering or related Degree
- 2+ years of experience in production and/or process improvement preferred(Chemical industry experiencewith 4+ being highly desired).
- Any related experience within Clariant as a Process engineer, Production engineer or Excellence areaswould be a major plus.
- Must have social competence, leadership skills, elevated knowledge in lean sigma methodologies with ahigh degree of computer skills(MS Office, SAP commonly used).
- Should have excellent communication skills both oral and written.
- Experience/abilities to lead teams from a project perspective (process management not people).
