Duties, Responsibilities & Other

Experience:

10 or more years of Florida Department of Transportation construction project experience perferred.

Skills:

Familiar with all aspects of construction engineering and inspection (CEI) performed to Florida Department of Transportation standards and procedures. Experience working with multiple local and state agencies including projects with state and federal transportation funding and the requirements associated with funding compliance.

Excellent Business and Communication skills. Proven leadership qualities and experience. Ability to make important decisions. Ability to work with and motivate others to work. Complete management skills including marketing, technical, administrative, and financial expertise.

Degree:

Bachelor's Degree or greater in Civil Engineering and Licensed/Registered Florida Professional Engineer.

Duties:

This individual will have technical expertise in the area of road, bridge and utility construction management & inspection as well as experience and technical knowledge in other areas such as transit, facilities and public works projects. This individual shall be responsible for project management and supervision of staff/projects within the FL CEI Practice and shall serve as Project Administrator or Senior Project Engineer for projects assigned. This position will also have a significant role and expectations in business development and growing the practice with new and existing public and private clients. The SPE shall be encouraged to maintain active participation in professional and business organizations within their geographic region, provide business development support within that region, manage schedules of the staff within that region and support the other Practices and Disciplines located within that region. The SPE shall also coordinate with the Practice Leaders within the CM discipline to ensure maximum utilization of staff and resources within the Practice.

Qualifications

    Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. Appropriate graduate level work. Master's degree preferred.
  • 6 - 10 years of professional experience. PE Required.
  • The target candidate will have experience in planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring projects involving both overhead and underground engineering systems.
  • Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Performance Expectations

  • Submit for approval and deliver timely annual Employee Performance Appraisals for assigned staff
  • Train adequate backup personnel to support your role in your absence
  • Comply with all KCI policies and procedures
  • Ensure projects fulfill ISO compliance requirements
  • Manage work routine of all assigned staff and assign job activities as required
  • Complete other duties as required/assigned
  • Achieve or exceed budgeted individual utilization target(75%-80% typical)
  • Attend bi-weekly(or more frequently as necessary) meetings with project team on all projects/tasks
  • Chart and provide task performance results
  • Complete all tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting the scope
  • Consult and coordinate with other practices and sub-consultants as required
  • Operate within specified (corporate or project) budget parameters
  • Prepare interpractice agreements and/or outside requests as required
  • Provide technical project and staff oversight
  • Serve as task manager on select projects
  • Compare field data to base plan
  • Conduct site visits and gather data, including measurements, sketches, notes and photographs as needed
  • Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications and cost estimates for review and approval
  • Prepare preliminary concept designs and submit for approval
  • Read and interpret technical documents needed for performance of job
  • Review and approve shop drawings
  • Complete Annual Individual Training Program
