Responsible for managing key operational initiatives and a centralized and compliant infrastructure. Manages the operations staff of the Research Team and serves as a subject matter expert in regards to research finances, regulatory, and performance management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Current unencumbered licensure with the WV Board of Registered Professional Nurses, or appropriate state board where services will be provided, as a registered professional nurse OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) OR

Bachelor's degree in any discipline

EXPERIENCE:

1. Four (4) years clinical research experience including two (2) years management or supervisory experience.

1. Master's Degree in any discipline.

1. Two years of experience in clinical research project coordination.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. They are not intended to be constructed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Works with Director, administrative leadership, physicians and other clinical personnel to develop, implement and manage the clinical research programs within the department. Collaborates on performance improvement programs within department and system hospitals.

2. Coordinates the smooth monitoring of all trials by ident fying and managing qualified staff, establishing audit procedures and ensuring that cleaned data is entered into the database in a timely fashion.

3. Participates and partners with providers and staff as well as the WVU Research Corporation. Ensures that colleagues are updated on all relevant issues.

4. Ensures the smooth running of the clinical research department by developing systems to track projects including all study, investigator and IRB review board information, patient recruitment activity and financial management.

5. Coaches the team on various aspects of research project management.

6. Implements training programs for the development of the research team and other clinical staff with relevant topics.

7. Oversees the management of clinical research assigned to the department, and interfaces with clinical partners to ensure efficient and effective operations.

8. Responsibility for the financial management of the clinical research program including budget planning, resource allocation and preparation of quarterly reports.

9. Coordinates resources to achieve the goals of conducting responsible research and ensure the efficient and compliant operational performance of the department and all related entities.

10. Plans, manages, and coordinates program activities to ensure goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed time-frames and the expectations of the funding (industry/private) agencies.

11. Develops, implements and oversees all clinical trials including the development of final research protocols, data management and trial management plans.

12. Collaborates with Director, administrative leadership, physicians and department to develop, implement and monitor strategic plans and operational/financial performance including development, marketing, educational programs and relationships with external sponsors.

13. Facilitates communication between investigators and statisticians in order to obtain relevant research data.

14. Establishes and ensures effective reporting and communications between program components, sites and teams.

15. Manages regularly scheduled reporting to program leadership, sponsors and program team.

1 Manages effective utilization of the department's resources including staffing, space and budgets. Monitors the budgetary performance of the clinical research components of the department and communicates the same to departmental administration.

17. Manages assigned staff to aid in the development and improvement of the Division's performance.

16. Selects, hires, manages and evaluates the effectiveness of employees on a continuous basis. Promotes teamwork, contributing to positive employee morale.

17. Performs performance evaluations that provide objective, constructive feedback regarding strengths and opportunities for improvement. Coaches and counsels to correct identified performance deficiencies.

18. Establishes goals and provides follow-up within established Human Resources policies.

19. Ensures compliance with policies and ensures staff meets the established access and service standards.

20. Reviews operational results with leadership to ensure optimal utilization of resources.

21. Analyzes trends to develop long-range plans for department needs.
