Supply Chain Intern

Summary:

Performs and supports the purchasing function for the acquisition of various items, and services. Additional tasks include purchasing administrative responsibilities, analytics, and cross-functional cooperation.

Ensure that materials, equipment, and supplies are ordered and delivered on-time to fulfill manufacturing requirements and finished goods delivery performance. Interface with technical and management personnel to execute changes in material, quantity, quality, and/or delivery schedules.

Responsibilities:

* Create purchase orders based on MRP demand for direct materials

* Manage suppliers - communicate daily with suppliers regarding purchase orders, pricing, quantity, demand, flexibility, delivery schedules, and performance

* Expedite purchase orders to alleviate material shortages

* Review purchase demand, delivery schedules, and perform purchasing actions - push, pull, cancel

* Resolve purchasing discrepancies - receiving, invoicing, engineering change orders, purchase price variance, discrepant material review (DMR), etc.

* Develop/enhance supply chain metrics and dashboards

* Participate in supplier negotiations for price reduction, delivery schedule, and payment term improvement initiatives

* All employees are expected to adhere to the rules and codes of conduct of Benchmark

* Put the customer first and gain valuable experience as a result

* Other duties may be required based on business needs

Skills:

* Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite: Excel (pivot tables, vlookups), Outlook, Word

* Excellent written and oral communication skills

* Knowledge and/or use of ERP and MRP Systems (preferred)

* Diligent and attentive to detail to ensure Benchmark meets or exceeds Customer Satisfaction

Education: Supply Chain Management Program, Junior or Senior preferred. Student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited college or university with a focus on Supply Chain or related field.
