In this role, you will:
- Provide age-appropriate assessment and
interventions in order to meet the needs of patients and families served - Obtain, evaluate and use information
from the patient requisition, medical records, referring physician and
correlate with acquired images - Use cognitive sonographic skills, to
identify and differentiate anatomy and pathology - Use independent judgement to produce
diagnostic images of human anatomy utilizing diagnostic ultrasound systems
for our referring providers and our interpreting physicians - Extend courtesy to our patients, family
members, visitors and co-workers through our "World Class Practices"
Service Standards
This position will support the Ultrasound
section's South Bay region, primarily at Martin Luther King Jr. Community
Hospital, providing patient care for our inpatient and outpatient settings. The
South Bay Region is currently comprised of UCLA Health's partnership with MLK
Community Hospital, UCLA Health Palos Verdes Imaging & Interventional
Center, UCLA Health Manhattan Beach Imaging and Interventional Center, UCLA
Health Torrance Specialty Care, UCLA Health Redondo Beach Primary &
Specialty Care. This position is
primarily hospital based, and does require
participation in on-call, weekend, and holiday
schedulingas prepared by the
manager.
Internal candidates will be placed according
to their Active/Current career ladder level up to the Senior level.
External Candidates:
Staff Sonographer:
- One to two years experience within the
hospital / acute care setting - Must maintain active RDMS certification
in one specialty, i.e. Abdomen or OB-GYN - Graduate of CAAHAP accredited ultrasound
program is strongly preferred - Salary
Range: $67.07 Hourly
Senior Sonographer:
- Minimum
of five years of prior experience within the
hospital / acute care setting - Must
maintain Active RDMS certification in three specialties: Abdomen, OB-GYN
and RVT - Proficient
in Abdomen, OB/Gyn, Pediatric and Vascular Sonography. Additionally,
proficiency in interventional procedures - Graduate
of CAAHAP accredited ultrasound school is strongly preferred - Salary
Range: $70.23 Hourly
Salary Range (Staff and Senior): $67.07 and
$70.23 Hourly
Qualifications
Job Qualifications:
Staff Per Diem Ultrasound Technologist
- At least 1 year of acute care (hospital) experience - required
- RDMS credential in one specialty (Abdomen or OBGYN) - required
Senior Per Diem Ultrasound Technologist (external candidates)
- 5 years of prior acute care (hospital) experience - required
- RDMS credential in Abdomen, OBGYN and RVT - required
General Requirements
* BLS/CPR Certificate - required
* Graduate of CAAHAP ultrasound program - strongly preferred
* AAS or higher in Medical Sonography - preferred
* RDMS (AB or OBGYN) - minimum requirement
* Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, visitors, physicians, nurses, staff and others in a professional and courteous manner
* Ability to accept and carry out oral and written instructions accurately
* Ability to employ independent decision making, prioritize work, while handling multiple tasks to completion within allotted time
* Ability to show attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness
* Basic typing skills to input various data into RIS and HIS Information systems.
