Moog Space and Defense Group is looking for a Senior Electrical Process Engineer to provide essential engineering support in the manufacturing and assembly of electronic controllers, circuit boards, and cables for both development and production. Reporting to the Product Engineering Manager, you will be a central figure in the manufacturing and assembly of electronics development and production hardware.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in a technical discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering preferred)

  • 8+ years' experience as a manufacturing, process, quality, or product engineer

  • Relevant experience in circuit board manufacturing, including surface mount technology (SMT) and plated through-hole soldering, cleaning, polymeric applications, cable assembly, box build, rework, and repair

  • Experience in electronics processing capital planning, specifications, acquisition, and qualification

  • Knowledge of electronics DFX, electronics materials, and chemical expertise

  • Six sigma and/or lean manufacturing experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Project, and PowerPoint (or equivalent)

  • Certifications in IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, and NASA 8739 preferred

Responsibilities:

Production Assembly and Test Instructions:

  • Assist in providing assembly and test instructions, training, and monitoring to maintain production. Contribute to defining the standard process flow for production and support manufacturing readiness with routings, opsheets, electronic assembly worksheets, machine programming, solder profiling, tooling, and fixturing. Stay updated on the latest manufacturing standards, techniques, and equipment, and assist in verifying, validating, and providing instruction for the use of electronic materials and chemicals in the manufacturing area.

Assembly Support Equipment System Guidance:

  • Assist in evaluating, requesting, and supporting equipment to meet production requirements. Contribute to proposals for capital improvement investments for the manufacturing of circuit card assemblies, cables, and electronic controllers. Assist in providing standardized work instructions and preventative maintenance plans for equipment.

Cross-Functional Support:

  • Assist in addressing stop work issues promptly, communicating with affected groups within the company and at the customer/supplier levels. Support efforts to maintain and improve quality, schedule, and cost objectives, and assure design integrity, producibility, and quality in production products.

Continuous Improvement Participation:

  • Support efforts to maintain design integrity, producibility, and quality in production products using six sigma and lean manufacturing techniques. Assist in reviewing designs throughout the design cycle for manufacturability, assembly, and cost.

Bid and Proposal Assistance:

  • Participate in reviewing incoming proposals and assist in providing NRE and RE estimates.

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $80,000.00-$115,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
