https://engineering.uark.edu/civil-engineering/index.php Summary of Job Duties:The Postdoctoral Fellow will utilize fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures to assist in the execution of research programs in the area of distributed acoustic sensing technologies (DAS) and other non-invasive subsurface imaging technologies. Specific job responsibilities will
include:
*Research, design, fabrication, testing, and debugging of Disturbed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) and
other geophysical technologies.
*Field testing DAS systems against more established geophysical techniques including
multichannel analysis of surface waves (MASW), Electrical Resistivity Tomography, and other
stress wave and electrical geophysical techniques.
*Development of data processing workflows and analysis schemes.
*Generation of technical reports and scholarly publications
*Direction and guidance of graduate research assistants in the performance of their research
duties

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications:

  • Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering, Geophysics, or a closely related field from an accredited institution of higher education, conferred by the start of employment

  • Experience in a leadership with the ability to work independently and with team members

Preferred qualifications:

  • Programming ability in MATLAB, Phyton, or another common computer programming language

  • Driver's licenses or the ability to obtain one quickly

  • The ability to perform field experiments (lift field equipment, swing sledgehammer, drive stakes, layout equipment)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge in geotechnical engineering and geophysics; Preferred knowledge in field geophysical methods particularly surface wave methods including multichannel analysis of surface waves

  • Computer programming skills

  • Field geophysical testing skills

  • Data Analysis skills

  • Scholarly writing skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Leadership skills

  • Ability to be highly organized

Additional Information:

This position is renewable annually based on continued need for the position, availability of funding, and satisfactory job performance.

Salary Information:

$65,000 to $75,000 (commensurate with education and experience)
