DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Residential Program Worker, you will assist those who are returning to the community following a mental health hospitalization in addition to assisting in preventing premature hospitalization. This work supports the consumer's efforts to reintegrate into or remain in the community, thus fostering his or her success in recovery and in building the confidence and self-reliance needed for full independent living in the community.
This professional supports the consumer's efforts consistent with his or her Individual Service Plan (ISP) in implementing goals, plans, and objectives. You will train consumers in home safety protocols and share observations with the supervisor and multi-disciplinary team members as appropriate. Diligent organizational skills are necessary to complete documentation and chart observations, behaviors, and progress in a timely manner. You may be required to transport consumers, when necessary, in a county vehicle to various appointments.
This position requires close contact with the consumer in his or her home environment. Workers in this capacity work on shifts to assure 24-hour availability in a small mental health facility in which a limited number of consumers reside, each in their own apartment. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Part-time employment, 15-20 hours per week.
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM; Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday; with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position may require occasional overnight travel or out of county travel for meetings or training. Often, irregular hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends may be required.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six months of experience as a Residential Program Trainee; or
- One year of experience in a Human Services Agency working with the mentally disabled, the elderly, or children and youth; or
- Two years of college which includes courses appropriate to the Human Services field; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

- Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Lackawanna, Monroe, Pike, Susquehanna, or Wayne counties. If no eligible candidates who live within these counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
