The Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs is a senior College of Health Dean's Executive Team member. The Associate Dean provides strategic leadership and managerial oversight for undergraduate and graduate academic programs, including interprofessional education and practice. The Associate Dean guides the Student Success Center, which includes strategies for increasing admission, persistence, retention, and graduation, along with enhancing inclusive excellence. The Associate Dean collaborates with the Dean's Executive Team and Academic Unit Chairs on faculty and staff development, as well as the vision, mission, strategic plan, and organizational effectiveness of the college.

Doctorate or terminal degree related to COH academic programs.

Leadership in higher education with evidence of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service in higher education. Evidence of working cooperatively in a team environment.

A vital resource for Indiana for preparing health professionals, the College of Health is moving boldly forward in making interprofessional education, practice and research its paradigm across its disciplines. The College offers 32 academic programs in 7 units: Departments of Counseling
Psychology, Social Psychology, and Counseling; Military Science; Nutrition and Health Science;
Speech Pathology and Audiology; and Social Work plus the Schools of Nursing and Kinesiology.

We are proud to be the academic home for the campus ROTC program, which commissions about 20 officers annually from Ball State and affiliated programs at nearby universities. Our 200 faculty and staff serve nearly 3,000 students. We partner with communities for immersive learning. Our
Interprofessional Community Clinics and the Healthy Lifestyle Center offer health services and health education by faculty-supervised students. These clinics operate as an auxiliary to the college, providing an unusual opportunity for students to learn the business of health care.
Faculty and students contribute to the evidence base for their respective disciplines. Our research is community engaged and features the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies, Human Performance Lab and the Center for Substance Use Research and Community Initiatives. The Fisher Institute for Health and Wellbeing is being re-envisioned as the College's hub of community engagement. Our Health Professions Building, housing most of our academic programs, opened in 2019
with 165,000 square feet and is LEED Gold certified. The School of Kinesiology is housed in
the Health and Physical Activity building, which boasts adjacencies to Worthen Arena, Ball
State Athletics, and the Jo Ann Gora Student Recreation and Wellness Center. Military
Science finds its home in the historic Ball Gymnasium.

Facilitate activities related to academic programs, including but not limited to oversight for the college undergraduate and graduate curriculum committees; developing high-impact practices such as immersive learning, study away/abroad, and undergraduate research; and management of student academic actions such as incompletes and grade changes. As part of this duty, the Associate Dean collaborates with university committees and the Provost's Office.

Guide academic units and interface with the Provost Office on all accreditation activities and unit reviews.

Supervise the Director of Interprofessional Education and Practice and contribute to developing and facilitating interprofessional education and practice initiatives, including all COH academic programs and as appropriate to Indiana University School of Medicine and other BSU colleges.

Facilitate student grievance process. Work with academic unit leadership, faculty, students, and the Provost's Office to resolve issues fairly and in a timely fashion.

Supervise academic scheduler and facilities manager and guide academic scheduling and facilities and equipment management related to academic and research programs. Maintain relationships with central services such as University Libraries and Information Technology.

Provide oversight for COH faculty affairs. This includes serving as ex-officio of the college promotion and tenure committee and salary/merit committee; guiding workload; facilitating academic unit chairperson elections; reviewing graduate faculty membership in compliance with Graduate School; and participating in prospective faculty interviews.

Guide and orient Academic Unit heads on matters related to Academic, Student and Faculty Affairs.

Collaborate with Dean's Executive Team and the Provost Office to guide faculty and staff success and leadership succession.

Perform other duties as assigned.
