Description

The FSQA Technologist is responsible for administering and analyzing activities in support of CFG's food safety and quality assurance (FSQA) programs and special projects. This individual will also serve as the primary CFG contact for Vendor Approval and Complaint Management (CPM).

Job Responsibilities:



  • Program/SOP Writing, Improvement, and Maintenance
  • Complaint Program Management


    • Manage complaints, conduct investigations, and perform weekly complaint/CPM analysis
    • Report weekly complaint details to senior management and CPM to CFG Management
    • Lead the Complaint Hot Spot Meeting Series to provide sustainable solutions
    • Oversee customer complaint resolution for co-packed products
    • Lead internal vendor incident resolution for outsourced products and resources


  • Vendor Management and Co-Packer Programs


    • Maintain FSQA communication with outsourced vendors
    • Perform co-packer/vendor reviews and audits for new co-packers/vendors
    • Manage seasoning/ingredients specs (Trace Gains & Vendor documents)
    • Conduct vendor risk analysis and obtain specs for ingredients/raw materials
    • Create inspection schedules for raw materials, ingredients, and co-packed products
    • Request, review, and update vendor documents and certificates of analysis


  • Customer Portal Maintenance


    • Provide timely responses to customer requests and questionnaires
    • Collaborate with Sales and Legal to ensure NDAs are in place
    • Address customer inquiries on food safety programs


  • FSQA Audits and Support


    • Conduct co-packer/customer FSQA audits and tours
    • Manage internal specifications and quality audits
    • Support audits (internal, customer, 3rd party) and provide troubleshooting for FSQA plant teams


  • Product Research and PIR Process Management


    • Research products, markets, and technologies to improve brand offerings
    • Manage the PIR process and maintain master product data
    • Participate in PIR meetings and lead vendor-initiated changes


  • Cross-Functional Collaboration


    • Work with RDC, FSQA, and Purchasing teams on ingredient shelf-life extensions
    • Assist with FSQA training and provide cross-functional guidance
    • Participate in FSQA and CFG leadership meetings


  • Routine Product Cuttings and Data Analysis


    • Conduct product cuttings and report findings
    • Analyze product performance, quality, food safety, and program compliance data


  • Specialized Program Management


    • Act as SME for Safety Chain and Trace Gains
    • Review FSQA labels, packaging, and document approvals
    • Assist with maintaining FSQA Corporate Mailbox (e.g., shelf-life extensions, COAs)

    • Compile cost analysis data including cost of quality and food safety



    • Conduct Innovative Product Research



    • Research products, technology, ingredients and packaging to improve existing brands or create new products, improve marketing or to provide cost savings





Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (required)
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in QA, Food Safety, Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management, or Business Administration
  • USDA or FDA experience preferred
  • Strong written, verbal communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint (MS Access a plus)
  • Ability to travel occasionally
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • A commitment to quality


Coverage:
The FSQA Technologist will assume duties of the FSQA Supervisor(s) and FSQA Management team during absences and ensure all responsibilities are covered when absent.
