For 16 years, Midwest Surgical Hospital (MSH) has provided advanced surgical, outpatient/inpatient, and pain clinic services that are economical, convenient, and dramatically different than the typical hospital/institutional experience. Conveniently located in the heart of Omaha off of 84th and Dodge, MSH is partly physician owned, fully accredited by CIHQ (Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality), and licensed by CMS.

Do you have a passion for providing quality patient care? We are hiring a RN to provide optimum quality care to the patients while in the operating room.

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position, with a schedule of Monday - Friday. Hours are 6:30am to 5:00pm. We are looking for a skilled RN who's reliable, has strong interpersonal skills, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced hospital environment with an ortho/neuro focus.

Responsibilities:



  • Assess physical, psychological, spiritual, cultural, educational and developmental dimensions of the patient and provide written documentation of findings upon admission to the unit.
  • Assess and document patient condition and response to nursing and/or medical interventions and communicate the information to the appropriate persons.
  • Assess instrumentation, supply and equipment needs based on the scheduled procedure, assessed patient need and physician preferences.
  • Develop an individualized plan of care based on nursing assessment, medical diagnoses, and knowledge of specific illnesses, injuries, diseases, surgical procedures and appropriate standards of care.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to maximize patient outcomes and affect a smooth flow of the surgical experience.
  • Plan and utilize resources efficiently to complete the daily schedule in a timely manner while providing safe and individualized patient care.
  • Provide equipment and supplies based on identified needs and in a timely, efficient and safe manner.
  • Demonstrate appropriate knowledge of special needs for various age groups including neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric when providing resources for the surgical procedure.
  • Communicate pertinent information in an organized, logical and concise manner to physicians, patients and families.
  • Keep surgical teams and manager informed of changes in patient status.
  • Apply principles of aseptic technique when appropriate
  • Proper procedure for counting sponges, needles and instruments (when appropriate) are carried out and correctly documented.
  • Possess knowledge of medications used during operating procedure.
  • Assist with cleaning the OR between cases and after the last case of the day.
  • Assist with preparing supplies for the next day's procedures.
  • Reassess, evaluate and revise the implementation of the plan of care to meet the changing needs of the patient.
  • Evaluate the patient post-operatively for any injuries related to positioning, extraneous objects, or chemical, physical and electrical/equipment hazards.
  • Complete patient record, charge slips, preference cards, accurately and thoroughly.


Requirements:



  • Graduate of an NLN Accredited school of registered nursing
  • Current RN License required
  • Current BLS
  • At least one year operating room experience in the last 3-5 years preferred.
