Inside the Role

The position is responsible for administration and interpretation of the labor agreements, counseling managers/supervisors, and resolving complaints and grievances with union officials. This position will also provide support and representation during union contract negotiations, arbitrations, mediations, and grievance meetings. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining productive business relationships with management and local union leadership, all by working as an individual contributor on a shift with minimal support.

Position offers a starting salary range of$74,500 - $95,000 USD

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, andexperience

In recognition of the 3rd shift schedule, this position offers a shift differential in addition to the base pay to compensate for the unique demands of working outside of standard business hours.

What You Drive at DTNA

  • Primary Labor Relations Representative for 3rd shift dealing with UAW Local 5287 representatives.
  • Administer the contractual transfer agreements for all bargaining units, job transfers, layoff and recall of employees consistent with labor agreement requirements.
  • Support production employees and management staff.
  • Research and assist in negotiating labor contracts that maximize management's flexibility.
  • Promote and support corporate goals aimed at increasing productivity and profitability, improving morale, reducing absenteeism, etc.
  • Act as liaison and counsel for employees and Management to assist with Human Resource related issues and to promote good working relationships, consistency and high morale.
  • Provide day to day counsel and support to Management to ensure consistent application and interpretation of Daimler Trucks personnel policies, the collective bargaining agreement, and state labor requirements.
  • Support HR efforts related to investigations, governmental inquiries/charges, grievance resolution, performance and absence management, complaints of unfair employment practices/discrimination, and disciplinary action.
  • Administer disciplinary action for Work Rule violations and Attendance Control Policy.
  • Administer the Plant drug and alcohol programs and monitor the last chance agreements.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with Union leadership.
  • Prepare information and testimony to best represent interpretation of contractual/legal issues.
  • Plans and conducts new hourly employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
  • 3rd shift (Sunday Night - Thursday Night).

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university OR At least 4 years of experience in HR or Labor Relations.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Requires in-depth knowledge and expertise in job field and working knowledge of related disciplines.
  • Ability to conduct professional presentations for various audiences.

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources/Labor Relations or related field preferred
  • 2-4 years of related experience preferred
  • Experience with labor law and regulations; arbitration case preparation and presentation
  • Experience in researching and writing personnel policies / letters of understanding
  • HR/Labor Relations Degree and/or SHRM Certification is preferred
