Position Summary

Department of Surgery at the University of Illinois Chicago is seeking a Research Assistant Professor. 

The Research Assistant Professor will work on the upstream signaling molecules that mediate therapeutic resistance and design strategies to target them. This position will work in studies that involve utilizing state-of-the-art molecular and cell biology techniques in tissue culture models (in vitro) and animal models (in vivo) of PDAC.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Principal Investigator in current and future research projects.
  • Develop new research projects that will help advance the goals of the lab.
  • Mentor junior scientists in the laboratory.
  • Experience in thoughtful and independent experimental design.
  • Maintain an extramurally funded research program.
  • Update PI on laboratory ongoing activities and issues.
  • Participation in regular data analysis, scientific manuscript writing, scientific data presentations, journal club presentations, grant applications, and relevant literature readings will be required.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. in Cancer Biology or a related field

Minimum of 4 years of research experience in the cancer field

Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in elucidating at a molecular level the role of various signaling molecules regulating growth, apoptosis, and survival in pancreatic cancer, with a particular focus on cancer cell resistance to therapy
