Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a SME Developmental Test Engineer for the Cyber TMAS II contract, supporting the Air Force.

Our developmental test team is searching for new test engineer professional that can provide Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) and radar subject matter expertise to our Department of the Air Force (DAF) Command, Control and Communications Battle Management (C3BM) DAF battle network programs. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, learning new technology areas, this is the place for you. We provide several opportunities to learn ranging from on-the-job training with other team members to formal courses for unique technology areas.

We realize that no one will have all these qualifications. We are looking for people that have a system engineering foundation and have the drive and motivation to learn all other required areas. Position responsibilities can span from customized test configurations to lab infrastructure support. The ideal candidate is individual whose qualifications and/or expertise are exceptional and/or highly unique.

This position provides support to the 46 Test Squadron at Eglin AFB as a member of the Datalinks Test Flight responsible for planning, designing, and executing test events for assigned test programs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience as United States Air Force Air Battle Manager, United States Marine Corps Air Defense Control Officer or US Army Air and Missile Defense Systems Tactician.
  • US Citizenship. Active DoD Secret Clearance adjudicated within the past five years and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top-Secret Clearance.
  • Technical experience with DoD command and control and IAMD Systems.
  • Technical and operational experience with radar and data link systems, to include electronic countermeasures.
  • Basic understanding of networking principles and familiar with various network, computer, and/or routing/switch concepts.
  • Ability to communicate and present technical details both written and verbally.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs unassisted.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Active DoD Top Secret security clearance
  • Knowledge of Internet Protocol (IP), Line of Sight (LOS), and Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) tactical data links.
  • Familiar with various voice and data radios to include Link 16 terminals (e.g. MIDS JTRS, HHL16, STT, etc.), PRC-167, PRC-160, etc.
  • Experience with GPS systems.
  • Familiar with Army Long Range Persistent Surveillance (ALPS) and/or Marine Expeditionary Long-range Persistent Surveillance (MELPS).
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft and Linux Operating Systems.
  • Understanding of T&E processes, specifically acquisition program development and test methodologies including DODI5000.89_DAFI 99-103, Capabilities-Based Test and Evaluation (T&E).
  • Knowledge of data analysis and system application software development concepts, functions, techniques, and capabilities sufficient to evaluate emerging technologies in a T&E environment.
  • Master's degree in STEM-related discipline or technical field (CS, EE, ME, etc.).

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Initiates, supervises, and/or develops requirements from a project's inception to conclusion for complex to extremely complex programs.
  • Provides strategic advice, technical guidance and expertise to program and project staff.
  • Provides detailed analysis, evaluation and recommendations for improvements, optimization development, and/or maintenance efforts for client-specific or mission critical challenges/issues.
  • Consults with client to define need or problem supervises studies and leads surveys to collect and analyze data to provide advice and recommend solutions.
  • Interface directly with System Program Offices, other services, Joint Battle Labs, product development contractors, and Field Service Representatives.
  • Plan, execute, and report on C3BM systems/equipment/protocols that employ Air Base Air Defense battle management systems.
  • Proficient with radar fundamentals, sensors, apertures, receivers, signal processors, transceivers, and data format types.
  • Perform technical leadership in engineering roles, review customer requirements and participate in test planning.
  • Develop in depth understanding of applicable Military Standards.
  • Develop and manage test plans and procedures, schedules, execute a test within the constraints of customer requirements, and produce timely test reports.
  • Capable of performing as a team leader in directing and executing system testing.
  • Author technical documents, conduct briefings and formal presentations.
  • Travel to locations, as required, to conduct tests, collect, and reduce data.
  • Able to travel to contractors' facilities, test sites, and other locations, CONUS and OCONUS, up to 30% of the time.
  • Strong work ethic; Comfortable working in and leading a team with minimal supervision.
  • Be able to lift 50lbs unassisted.
  • Attends or hosts meetings as necessary to provide briefings, information, and recommendations.
  • Supports any additional test activities as assigned by the Element and TGBC leadership.
