The Senior Loss Prevention Specialist performs a variety of professional duties in support of Corporate Safety's Loss Control Division including receiving, examining, investigating, and analyzing auto and general liability claims with emphasis on complex and unusual claims. This position takes accident and incident reports over the telephone and email and manages automotive and general liability claims through the entire claim cycle to closing identifying subrogation opportunities for referral to the Assistant GC for Litigation and Claims, when warranted. This position also provides supervision and support to the Loss Prevention Specialists.

Responsibilities of Position:



  • Manage claims that involve bodily injury and third-party property damage over the telephone, by email, or in person.
  • Interpret coverage, conduct investigations, and interview insureds, witnesses, and third-party claimants.
  • Perform complex liability analysis of claims including valuation of comparative fault issues.
  • Negotiate settlements with individuals, other insurance carriers and/or attorneys, and process loss settlements. Provide Support and Guidance to the Loss Prevention Specialists.
  • Complete appropriate oral, written, and online reports to reflect and supplement all file activity.
  • Set and maintain adequate reserves on claim files.
  • Manage and supervise subrogation efforts, and work with the Assistant GC for Litigation and Claims on complex subrogation matters.
  • Obtain and review reports, statements, records, and related materials, as necessary.
  • Prepare and forward external and internal claim related correspondences or requests, to include damage claim forms, claim estimate and denial letters, check requests, etc. as required.
  • Interact with insurance representatives to obtain necessary claim processing information.
  • Update and maintain internal accident/incident records and databases with information as claims evolve.
  • Review internal loss control reports to determine overall claims volume and monitor efficiency of loss control team with the Corporate Loss Control Manager.
  • Perform all tasks in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:



  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for success in this role as you will be responsible for interacting with everyone from claimants to lawyers and witnesses, documenting communications with third parties and claim progress along the way.
  • Strong computer and record keeping skills.
  • Highly motivated individual who possesses a professional demeanor and excellent customer service skills.
  • Uses independent discretion/judgment and sound decision-making in the handling of claims.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and maintain a strong attention to detail.
  • Must possess good investigative and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and/or confidential documents and information.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management and employees.
  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively.



Physical Requirements in a Regular workday:



  • Occasionally lifting/carrying a max of 20lbs.
  • Continuous Sitting in Office Environment.

  • Must be able to read and speak the English language.

Education
High School (required)
General Education Diploma (preferred)
Associates of Relevant field (preferred)
Bachelors of Relevant field (preferred)
Experience
5 years: Prior experience in a similar role and/or claims management is strongly preferred. (preferred)
