M993A1 Carrier Vehicle Mechanic

Mechanic will perform test and checkout of mechanical, electrical, propulsion, structural, hydraulic subsystems, and complete systems on M270, M270A1, and HIMARS vehicles.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for M270, M270A1, and HIMARS Vehicle Mechanic: $ 27.50/hour

Pay commensurate with experience.

M993A1 Carrier Vehicle Mechanic Responsibilities Include:

• Inspects completed product to ensure compliance with SOW and applicable Technical Manual.
• Clean parts by spraying them with grease solvent or immersing them in tanks of solvent.
• Adjust, maintain, and repair or replace subassemblies, such as transmissions and engines, using hand tools, jacks, and cranes.
• Adjust and maintain industrial machinery, using control and regulating devices.
• Test equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' and/or Training Manual specifications.
• Repair and replace damaged or worn parts.
• Operate and inspect equipment in order to diagnose defects.
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs using calibration devices.
• Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
• Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
• Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.
• Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
• Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
• Assemble gear systems and align frames and gears.
• Repair or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
• Direct workers who are assembling or disassembling equipment or cleaning parts, as needed.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

M993A1 Carrier Vehicle Mechanic Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

• High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) and/or minimal of 5 years related experience.
• Experience working with U.S. Army combat and tactical equipment preferred.
• Must be familiar with all echelons or U.S. Army maintenance to the 40-level.
• Must be able to use Technical Manuals and publications.
• Experience with M270, M270A1, and HIMARS is preferred.
• Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
