Essential Functions of the Job:



  • Perform all duties required of Production Maintenance Mechanic II.
  • Maintain complete maintenance records and PM schedules for all equipment and facilities.
  • Recommend equipment modifications to improve the process, productivity and finished product quality.
  • Analyze performance issues related to equipment, tear down inspect components and replace as needed
  • Troubleshoot equipment to define root cause and repair in a timely manner.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory to minimize downtime and expense to the company.
  • DMAIC, Design, measure, analyze, implement and control mechanical process improvements.
  • Generate parts request to ensure adequate inventory.
  • Practice continuous improvement concepts in all aspects of equipment and facility maintenance.
  • Locate critical spares in the market for those items not in inventory.
  • Implement factory recommended equipment maintenance schedules and develop schedules for areas where none exist.
  • Repair downed equipment in a fast-paced time critical environment.
  • Train and Coach Associates on technical and procedural duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Supervisory Responsibilities:



  • None.


Minimum Qualifications



  • High School Diploma / GED.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of production maintenance experience.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Associate degree and / or Vocational / Technical degree in a related field.
  • Industry experience preferred.
  • Food-related production maintenance experience is a plus.
  • Experience related to PLCs, robotics, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Must be a self-starter capable of working in a team-based environment.
  • Experience with Oracle is beneficial.
  • Experience with MS Office, including Word and Excel.



Knowledge and Skills:



  • Candidate must possess a strong working knowledge of systems having a high level of instrumentation and automation.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing practices is beneficial.
  • Strong verbal, written, multi-tasking skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is beneficial.
  • Exceptional mechanical skills/aptitude.



Additional Considerations:



  • Travel Expectation: Very minimal travel may be necessary to various SunOpta locations and for meetings or other job-related functions.
  • This position will be at the SunOpta Plant in Omak, WA.
  • Work Environment: This position will be in a production / manufacturing environment.
  • Shift: Shift work, flexibility is needed.
  • Pay Rate: Pay starts at $35.25 for a Maintenance Production Technician II; differentials available for working 2nd and 3rd shifts.
  • Relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered.
