Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation is in search of a highly motivated and experienced Senior Gifts Officer to join our dynamic Philanthropy team! The ideal candidate will drive strategic fundraising efforts and oversee individual giving initiatives to support our mission and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manages a portfolio of >125 major/planned/principal gift donors and prospective donors, matching philanthropic priorities with Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation funding priorities
  • Supports the Senior Director, Philanthropy, focusing on individuals with the capacity to give five- six- and seven-figures gifts) through planning, implementation, management, and continuous evaluation of programs
  • Under the direction of the Senior Director, Philanthropy, prepares, implements, and evaluates an annual plan, including measurable goals and specific initiatives
  • Attends and supports all special events within and provide follow-up stewardship
  • Uses all appropriate forms of communication to develop and maintain relationships with high level customers and C-suite internal and external leaders
  • Identifies, cultivates, solicits, negotiates, and stewards individual gifts utilizing moves management and cultivation plans
  • Tracks donor and prospect information and communication in StratusLive (Conquer Cancer's CRM)
  • Participates in prospect strategy meetings, discusses strategies involving natural partners, acknowledges donor philanthropic objectives, and prepares donor-centric proposals involving mid, major, principal, transformational and planned giving solutions
  • Sets an aggressive meeting schedule with prospects and existing donors and exceed ever-increasing fundraising goal
  • Assists in the development of the case for support for organizational priorities, maintains effective working relationships with key volunteers, prospects, donors and financial advisors
  • Collaborates with colleagues in communications, corporate relations, and other departments to ensure the success of individual gifts, and prioritize services for internal and external contacts in a timely manner
  • Attends and follows-up for select meetings with leaders of Philanthropy, and key volunteers; and performs other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned by the Senior Director, Philanthropy

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent related work experience
  • 7+ years of direct experience fundraising for non-profit or medical organizations
  • Demonstrated success cultivating and maintaining multiple donor relationships and converting prospects to donors
  • Knowledge of Planned Giving principles sufficient to identify planned giving opportunities and connect donors to the appropriate resources

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Master's Degree or equivalentyears of experience or certifications relevant to the field such as CFRE
  • Memberships in AFP and other fundraising training and "trade" organizations

  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment, delivering quality work on deadline
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team including a commitment to adaptability in a changing environment
  • The ability to determine goals and priorities and to assess the actions, time and resources needed to achieve those goals
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail

Work at ASCO HQ

Staff are expected to perform work in-person at ASCO HQ as responsibilities dictate and/or upon their managers request.

Travel

40-60 days/yr, plus 4-6 on-site visits/yr.
