About the Opportunity This position will direct and/or serve as a digital producer for original content as assigned. This position provides creative leadership from inception to completion in assisting with production and direction of program segments, entire programs or series. This position develops, researches, produces, writes, directs, edits, and distributes digital and broadcast content. While the position works collaboratively with co-workers and community partners, team members will also work independently to see productions are complete, accurate and meet organization mission goals. This position will assist producers with online distribution management, show and feature editing and delivery. This work ranges from involvement with concept, content, funding/budget oversight to all pre-production, production and post-production activities, including social media. This position may manage work teams and staff and may provide supervision and leadership to the staff involved or work independently to deliver engaging content. Position may also manage the resource allocation and logistics for various digital platforms in production or post-production. This position will serve as a representative of PBSNC's Content division in partnership projects, serving the needs of both the partner and PBSNC.
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, consistent with System Office policy. UNC System employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2-hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station. About the Team PBS North Carolina's Content division provides North Carolinians with national and local programming and services of the highest quality, using media to educate, inspire, entertain, and express a diversity of perspectives. Minimum Education, Experience, and Skills High school diploma or equivalency and four years of progressive experience in a broadcast television, radio and emerging media environment, of which one year is supervisory; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Required Qualifications, Competencies and Experience -Full knowledge of the use and operation of a complete range of broadcast media equipment used to produce multiplatform content and to develop engagement and social strategies around produced content. Knowledge of current industry practices and standards. -Ability to conceptualize, design, develop and deliver original complex media programs that reflect a comprehensive creative vision. Ability to independently originate and design artistic approaches to produce the most sophisticated content, supported by comprehensive technical knowledge of state-of-the-art equipment. Ability to set the creative tone for the series and manage the creative process across multiple teams. Skill at both long-form content creation and short-form content creation, promotion and distribution strategies and tactics across multiple platforms. Ability to examine viewership trends, ratings and metrics and synthesize findings into strong audience-driven programming ideas for development and execution. -Ability to effectively lead and manage team members by originating, selecting and conveying comprehensive administrative, technical, artistic and aesthetic concepts verbally and in writing to achieve the desired outcome. Ability to craft contracts to meet project needs. -Ability to work independently as a team member and apply judgment in developing, organizing and executing plans. Ability to independently develop contingency plans for resources and materials in anticipation of change. Excellent time management skills and experience working in deadline driven environment. Strong production management and budget tracking skills. -Strong management skills and team player: ability to work with a team of content creators and external contractors -Strong people skills; ability to work effectively with internal and external clients to accomplish the goals of PBS NC
