Position Summary

REQUIRED APPLICATION COMPONENTS: RESUME, COVER LETTER UNM IT's Academic Technologies division is seeking responsible, self-motivated students who demonstrate leadership, aptitude, initiative, and assertiveness to provide professional assistance and instruction with a variety of classroom hardware and software to faculty and staff in academic environments. This position requires experience with Windows, and a familiarity with macOS, iOS, and Android platforms. Candidates should demonstrate excellent customer service skills and experience in communicating with of University users about the services we provide. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to work independently, organize time efficiently, and communicate professionally with faculty, staff, and students. Applicants should be able to take initiative to solve many of the computing problems that occur daily. Applicants may also be asked to participate in additional projects, which may include leading team projects, safe transportation of classroom technology items, printer maintenance, or deployment of new computer environments. Duties and responsibilities include: 1.) Maintaining organization and cleanliness of the work area. 2.) Ensure the completion of Student Consultant (SCON) duties, including verifying all requests in their area of responsibility are addressed in a professional manner; providing effective solution-oriented troubleshooting; ensuring all check-outs are handled on time and accurately; ensuring professional communication and instruction about classroom technologies, and demonstrating competency and proficiency in our ticketing system. 3.) Serve as the primary point of contact and assistance for entry level SCONs, addressing issues before escalation. 4.) Administrative work, including creating and enforcing classroom check schedules and office signage for customers and SCONs for the purpose of an effective work environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a SCON or Learning Environments Student Tech, or prior experience in a similar capacity at another department or institution.
- Ability to evaluate and recommend improvements associated with all aspects of the classroom and AV annexes.
- Ability to work with faculty and teaching assistants.
- Ability to troubleshoot software and hardware issues and coordinate with intradepartmental IT specialists to resolve issues and projects.
- Experience with operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex AV systems.
- Customer service experience.
- Experience with
FastInfo, operating system reimaging, and with the Help.UNM ticketing system (Cherwell). - Able to work a
minimum of 10 hours per week. - Familiarity and proficiency with
Apptree and Worldshare. - Familiarity with commercial AV systems including
Crestron systems, and amplifier power and connectivity infrastructure often utilizing screw terminal blocks.
