Summary:

The Pharmacogenomics Clinical Pharmacy Specialist will utilize advanced genomic information to optimize medication therapy for patients. This role will require a deep understanding of pharmacogenetics, genomics, and clinical pharmacology.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Pharmacogenomic Assessment: Evaluate patient genetic information to identify potential drug-gene interactions and inform medication selection and dosing.
  • Medication Therapy Optimization: Develop personalized medication regimens based on a patient's genetic profile, considering factors such as drug efficacy, toxicity, and adverse effects.
  • Patient Counseling: Educate patients and their caregivers about the importance of pharmacogenomics and how it can improve their healthcare outcomes.
  • Research and Education: Participate in research projects related to pharmacogenomics and medication therapy. Contribute to the education of other healthcare professionals

Qualifications

  • PharmD from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy is required
  • Completion of a PGY1 and applicable PGY2 specialty residency or a minimum of 5years of clinical experience required
  • TX Pharmacist license or eligible
  • Preceptor license required (must be obtained within 90 days)
  • CPR - BLS required
  • BPS certification required within 1 year of employment
  • Prior experience in pharmacogenetics, genomics, and clinical pharmacology is strongly preferred
