Position Summary

Under the direction of a member of the IS management team, performs assigned entry level IS tasks consistent with the educational course work of either a graduate or undergraduate student working towards a degree in computer-related field.


Responsibilities

    As part of the work experience in Information Systems, the Trainee gains an understanding and assists Information Systems staff in installing, maintaining, upgrading, and decommissioning network hardware and software.
    * Also may include:
    * Desktop computers and their maintenance
    * Networks and their maintenance
    * Server configuration and maintenance
    * Network/Server monitoring methods and tools
    * Service Desk operations and management
    * Application development and maintenance

  • Assist with special projects as assigned.
  • Maintains the customer service standards of the department and Versiti.
  • Communicates clearly and respectfully with customers, donors, and colleagues, sharing all necessary information.
  • Works effectively with team members, contributing to team efforts.
  • Supports Versiti's mission, vision, and values as well as department goals and objectives
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards


Qualifications

Education
  • High School graduate currently pursuing a degree in a computer-related field.
    required
Experience
  • No previous work experience is required, but a variety of computer/PC experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Effective communication skills. required
  • Good organizational skills and ability to adapt to fast-paced environment. required
  • Ability to represent the IS Department in a professional manner. required
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as Standard Operating Procedures, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other department manuals. required
Licenses and Certifications
  • Must have completed computer-related course work. required

  • Personal Computer (desktop, laptop, mobile device) required
  • General office equipment (computer, printer, fax, copy machine) required
  • Switches and routers required
  • PC servers required
