Conduct laboratory work for products based on defined projects under the direction of more senior technical leaders; contribute to technical project teams, providing data, & lab support in the area of analytical; develop technical information to support project decision-making; perform various tests including wet chemistry (titrations, RI, SG, OR, etc.) and GC, LC operations.
Job Responsibilities/Description:
- Support technical role working on strategic projects - give input on results & findings
- Manage work assignments from senior technical staff
- Understand the connections between the different functions (R&D, Nourish, Sales, Perfumery, etc.) & interact with them in order to complete project tasks on time
- Execute the relevant parts of the project within the given timelines
- Develop a good understanding of the project management process
- Develop a good understanding of experimental design principles
- Participate in department brainstorming sessions
- With supervision, apply new methodologies to prove concepts are working
- Suggest ways to improve current processes or methodologies to reduce time, cost, or increase performance
- Assist in Stability tests with analytical support and provide timely documentation & conclusions of completed stability studies
- Write up all laboratory notes in IFF knowledge management tools in a clear & concise way to be readily understood by all that have access
- Assist in writing reports to be used in presentations & stored in IFF knowledge management tools with the correct search fields added
- Assist in writing/developing new protocols for new applications
- Become proficient in all laboratory procedures, processes, & protocols.
- Become familiar with technical developments by reading scientific literature & patents
- Support competitor IP analysis by carrying out assigned experiments & summarizing results
- Assist in preparing the results & findings with third party
- Develop an understanding of the main base components used in leading market benchmark products per relevant category & application
- Learn about all available CI tools & how to select ones most relevant to the objectives of a test or project
- Become familiar with consumer unmet needs in the relevant categories & applications
- Write a Personal Development Plan with manager that ensures the ability to meet the current job role requirements but gives the required ability to achieve the next level when appropriate
- Develop a network of IFF staff that can help achieve the required capabilities
- Utilize internal training tools to enhance both soft skills & technical knowledge
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 1 - 2 years' working experience in the industrial food, pharmaceutical, chemical, cosmetic, consumer goods, &/or fragrance industry
- Knowledgeable in lab safety, relevant application, raw materials & chemical processes
- Training/Certifications a plus
- Essential: BS degree in Science & Technology, Chemistry or related discipline
