Description

This is a benefited, fulltime position generally working 8am-5pm Monday-Friday (no weekends). Located in Sorrento Valley at the Qualcomm Employee Health Centers. Under general supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the LVN performs a wide variety of patient care activities in support of health center activity which includes;



  • Prioritizing and assisting in patient triage processing, preparation and assistance with patient examinations, administering medications, venipuncture, drawing blood, collecting and preparing laboratory tests and patient education.
  • Responsible for specific appointments requiring independent judgment. Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • This position requires initiative, ability to prioritize critical demands in real time, and the flexibility to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Patient assessments and care tasks, including emergency procedures and medication administration as appropriate.
  • You will educate patients and families and document patient interactions.
  • Practicing infection control and contributing to the team as necessary to ensure quality patient care within own scope of practice.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:



  • Current California LVN license
  • American Heart Association BLS for Health Care Provider
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and follow instructions in English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proven LVN experience in primary care; skills in accurately taking and recording vital signs, height and weight; administering medication including injections; interviewing patients; and collecting and/or testing specimens.
  • Requires knowledge in medical terminology, online scheduling, electronic medical record, universal precautions and proper use of body mechanics.
  • Thorough knowledge of the normal range of values for vital signs and of basic lab and infection control procedures; standard items used to stock exam rooms.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the patient flow process to efficiently monitor appointments, patients and available providers.
  • General knowledge of pharmaceuticals and able to process PARs.
  • Proven ability to serve as a resource and effectively lead and mentor staff.
  • Possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, integrity, accountability and innovation.
  • This position requires demonstrated capability to provide exceptional customer service, helping with inquires, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive experience.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • One year of outpatient experience as LVN or LPN
  • Experience in an outpatient setting
  • Two years or more of recent experience as a licensed vocational nurse
  • Laboratory experience

  • Auditing and abstracting patient records
