ABOUT THE POSITION

Structural Bridge Engineer | Wethersfield, CT | Hybrid

VHB's CT Structural Team has an opening for a Structural Bridge Engineer to join our established and growing team. You will be working on a wide variety of bridge projects in CT and New England using cutting edge tools to design and create digital models of bridges.

Responsibilities

    Perform structural modeling and design of highway, pedestrian and railroad bridges and other structures
  • Create plans and digital models of the bridges and highway bridge approaches
  • Perform bridge inspections
  • Develop construction cost estimates
  • Prepare contract documents
  • Review fabrication drawings and provide construction plan reviews

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong technical skills in bridge/structural design
  • Experience developing design reports, plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and commitment to learning
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Training and mentoring skills
  • Effective and comfortable in a highly collaborative team environment
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley OpenBridge, MicroStation v8 and Connect experience is a strong plus

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (structural emphasis preferred)
  • Master's degree a plus
  • 5-8 years of professional structural/transportation/bridge design experience required (master's degree may substitute for 1 year of experience)
  • EIT required, PE license expected or ability to obtain within 6 months
